After a well-publicized issue with the facts during this summer’s Rio Olympics, Ryan Lochte is in the news again for mixing up the truth.

This time, the swimmer and Dancing with the Stars contestant is having trouble pinning down his dog’s age. A hawk-eyed Lochte Twitter follower noticed that the 32-year-old Olympian has celebrated his dog’s 8th birthday on Oct. 23rd for three years in a row.

The first of the three celebratory tweets, which have been screengrabbed by @wholegrainne, was posted on Oct. 23, 2014 with the message, “8 years ago today Carter was born. I love you little buddy. Happy Birthday!”

This was followed 365 days later with another photo of the honored (and adorable) dog that said, “8 years ago to this day my handsome son was born, Carter Lochte 10-23-2007. Happy birthday buddy, we got another 8!”

With the date included, it seems that this tweet marks Carter’s true 8th birthday, making the first tweet a simple mistake. It happens, you get caught up in the whirlwind of loving your pet and lose track of the exact time you have spent together, especially when it feels like you’ve known each other all your lives. But then, the 2015 tweet was followed by a third 8th birthday tweet a year later.

“8 years ago this handsome son of mine was born,” reads the comment to go along with 2016’s photo.

Oops! At first, it seemed that Lochte’s dog had found the secret to eternal life and would live forever, constantly staying at the prime age of 8, but then Lochte took the tweet down and replaced it with an amended birthday message.

Happy 9th birthday Carter, we can’t wait to see what age you turn next year.
