The actor's "Muppet" George spices up the night with his daring doggie 'do

Creating good banter on late-night TV isn’t easy. So, to keep the chatter going during his Wednesday visit on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Ryan Gosling brought along the world’s best conversation piece: his dog, George!

“He’s more interesting than I am, so I just thought it would be helpful,” the actor said of the pooch, who noshed on bits of green apple throughout the interview. RELATED: Stars’ Beach-Loving Doggies

The dog’s full-body mohawk was definitely a conversation starter. “He insists on it,” the star said of the canine’s hairstyling. “Ten years ago I shaved a mohawk just for the summer. And then, every time it started to grow out, he turned into a total jerk. And then, I’d shave it back and he’d turn into a nice guy again.”

The amiable pooch, who recently moved to New York City with Gosling, seemed to be going for the hipster look as he sported a red sock on one of his back legs – but, sadly, the actor explained it wasn’t for fashion.

“He’s got a hot spot,” Gosling said of the dog’s itchy skin. “You know, they chew on their feet.”

It turns out the cool canine’s background is just as eclectic as his appearance. When Fallon asked what kind of dog he is, Gosling replied, “He’s some kind of Muppet.”
