Roofus owes a lot to the new roof over his head.

The pup is being adopted by the man who found him on top of his house in Phoenix, Arizona, according to KPHO News, who first reported the story.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control say animal control officers responded to a call last week about a dog stuck on a roof, who was being fed by the homeowner. The good Samaritan recently had surgery and was unable to climb up on the roof to get the pooch.

KPHO reports the 3-year-old Chihuahua mix had been stuck for several days and with help from the Arizona Humane Society, he was rescued on Thursday.

“Gregory actually came into the shelter over the last few days to visit with Roofus and decided to come in today and adopt,” MCACC spokeswoman Melissa Gable told KPHO on Monday.

MCACC told PEOPLE the dog is going home with Gregory on Tuesday.

It sounds like Roofus’ rooftop romp won’t happen again. Gable told KPHO she cautioned Gregory to remove whatever items the dog used to make his way onto the roof.
