Turns out real dogs aren’t fans of robot dogs

Turns out the Uncanny Valley isn’t just limited to humans.

It’s not just Carrie Fisher’s dog Gary. Venture capitalist Steve Jurveston recently uploaded a video of Android founder Andy Rubin’s dog Cosmo interacting with Boston Dynamics’ robotic dog Spot, and Cosmo is decidedly not a fan.

Of course, it doesn’t help that all of Boston Dynamics’ robot designs look like nightmare spiders and move around with the horrible herky-jerky grace of a puppet with its strings cut, and frankly, they creep me out just as much as Cosmo.

But Cosmo clearly recognizes the robot as something that’s supposed to look like him or at least one of his peers, and he’s not having it.

But then again, dogs also hate feathers sometimes, so who’s really to say if this indicative of a larger anti-robot stance from the dog population.
