When Super Bowl XLIV kicks off on Feb. 5, 2012, non-football fans may tune in for a performance from Her Madgesty, Madonna, who will take the stage during the game’s highly-anticipated halftime show it was announced Monday.

But across channels, Animal Planet will be airing its popular (and always adorable!) Puppy Bowl, the network’s annual get-together of ambitious adoptable pups vying for a taste of football glory all their own.

While it’s the Material Girl’s first appearance on the Super Bowl stage, the Puppy Bowl comes complete with its own halftime performance – kittens!
