Only Paris Hilton could make headlines for alleged drug possession and animal rescue in the same month! Just weeks after her Las Vegas arrest, the heiress Tweeted Wednesday that she had rescued a veritable “herd” of bunnies from a Los Angeles pet shop.

Hilton told Twitter followers the bunnies were “meant to be feeders. I saw them at the pet store and they told me they were for snake food and I had to save them.”

She took all 20 of them back to her home, where they’re now “happy, living in my back yard.”

The bunnies – who’ve been eating rabbit food, lettuce, carrots and grapes – join Hilton’s menagerie, which includes dogs, a cat, an opossum, a hamster and an exotic bird, among other critters.

That’s not to say she neglects any of her animals, though; she recently Tweeted that she had bought her dogs treats, toys and “the cutest Halloween costumes” at a local PETCO. As for the bunnies? Well, the rescue is probably enough of a gift for now. “It’s so nice to have changed their fate,” Hilton wrote.
