When he arrived at the Richardson Animal Shelter in Dallas, Texas, back in 2012, Skinny the cat was so overweight, he could only walk a few feet at a time.

The cat’s extra pounds made headlines around the world, and now he’s living purr-oof that change is good.

The kitty is a slim 19 lbs. thanks to exercise and a special diet, the New York Post reports, and is living a happy life at the Dallas veterinary clinic where his owner, Dr. Brittney Barton, works.

The adorable cat roams the HEAL Veterinary Hospital, where he is an unofficial greeter, and his weekends are spent at home with Barton, who is very pleased with his transformation.

“I’m happy where he is at this point in time,” Barton told the The Dallas Morning News. “The rest is just excess skin.”
