Not Impressed: Skeptical Canines Sit for Photoshoot

Everyone loves a good animal Instagram. There is something so simple, silly and elating about a smiley cat or a bartending dog. But pets, they have their limits. Just like you get annoyed with all your aunts and uncles taking the same photos over and over again on holidays, cats and dogs can get tired with the paparazzi treatment too.
German photographer Elke Vogelsang recently explored these animal emotions of annoyance with a canine portrait series called “Dogs questioning the photographer's sanity.”

Vogelsang routinely photographs pets for their owners, which means she has a cache of adorable and amusing outtakes.

The photographer dug into these extra pictures and pulled together a series of dog shots that look surprisingly human.

While these canines may look like a bunch of moody teens, Vogelsang assures that all of her canine clients leave her studio happy.

“Mostly these pictures were achieved by pretending to throw a toy or treat or actually throwing one. That way the dog is expecting the toy or treat to come it's way and is looking in anticipation,” Vogelsang explained to Mashable.

We would probably look peeved if we were denied a treat, too. The photographer hopes that animal lovers see these shots and enjoy the near-human expressions captured on the dogs's faces, just like she does.

“Of course, these are snapshots, a moment in time, captured in a fraction of a second. Often we have our own interpretation of those expressions … Like all dog lovers I’m guilty of humanizing them,” Vogelsang added.
