With a name like Harley, this dog’s fate was sealed.

A 17-month-old St. Bernard has been turning heads in his English town for his unusual pastime. When Harley’s owner, retiree Alan Valkeith, starts the engine on his Honda Gold Wing 1200 motorcycle, Harley straps on his “doggles” and hitches a ride on his very own sidecar.

“We are both keen on motorbiking and didn’t want to give up our hobby once we got Harley,” says Tina Valkeither, also retired. “One of us would have had to stay at home and look after him.”

Harley, who weighs nearly 170 lbs., goes out with the Valkeiths two to three times a week, whether it’s for a trip to the grocery store or a day trip to the seashore. He doesn’t mind the strong winds, either – Harley’s gotten to ride as fast as 55 m.p.h. For this speed demon, there’s no place like the road.
