Morrissey Stars in New PETA Ad
“Animals unfortunately haven’t yet worked out how to slip on a rubber,” says the British singer
Off the top of his head, Morrissey can think of one very important reason spay and neuter your pets: overcrowding in animal shelters.
The British singer brings attention to the ever-growing homeless pet population in a new ad for PETA, in which he wears a rescued tabby like a top hat.
“Despite the fact that they’re incredibly intelligent, animals unfortunately haven’t yet worked out how to slip on a rubber,” Morrissey said in a statement. “Which is why thousands of them are being put to sleep in overcrowded shelters and thousands more are desperately waiting to be adopted.”
The former Smiths lead singer wants pet lovers to do what’s right: protect their pets by having them fixed. “Letting cats or dogs have litters is tantamount to shooting shelter animals in the head since it kills their chances of adoption,” he added. “Please do the right thing and spay or neuter your animals.”
