We have never witnessed a purer, more loving friendship than that between this nurturing monkey and the puppy he adopted.

While we don’t quite have the backstory on their love saga — despite being able to adopt, monkeys still can’t talk — their pictures have captivated locals, who have been setting out food for the new family. The monkey reportedly lets the dog eat the food first before eating himself.

“People who have seen them spoke of their strong mutual affection and described their bond as the most caring thing in the world — to take care of a puppy in danger and protect him like a parent,” reports the Indian news outlet Zee News. “Their undying affection gives us a valuable lesson about relationships.”
