Mickey Rourke & His Family of Little Dogs
FIRST CLASS POOCH
Mickey Rourke totes his pal Jaws through security at LAX. The actor starred with this dog in a recent PETA ad promoting spay and neutering.
The Wrestler star holds a pal as he arrives at the 65th annual Venice Film Festival last year in a boat. He told Barbara Walters about how important his dogs were to him in his darker days: “I don’t have kids, the dogs became everything to me.”
HAVE DOG, WILL TRAVEL
Rourke reportedly got his first dog as a present from his former wife, model Carre Otis, and has had more than a dozen since. Here, he swings through LAX with one of the pack.
He may have thanked his dogs in his Golden Globes acceptance speech, but he brought his Chihuahua, Loki, to the awards ceremony at the Venice Film Festival in September. ”Loki is the love of my life,” he told The New York Times.
The actor, seen here grabbing lunch with friends (one furry) in New York City, reportedly rents a Greenwich Village town house that is adorned with photos of his dogs.
Vocal about animal issues like spaying and neutering, Rourke rallied outside a Florida pet store to protest the alleged sale of sick puppies in 2007. “I truly believe God created dogs for a cause. They are the greatest companions a man could ever have,” he told the New York Post last year.
Seen here on a walk in Rome with one of his pooches, Rourke told The New York Times that his pups have been his comfort during dark times. “Who do I share the good things happening to me with? My dogs, I guess,” he said.
