Marie Osmond's New Puppy Is an 'Unexpected Blessing'

The German shepherd/English bulldog mix joined Osmond's big family in April, and has been "pure puppy joy" ever since

Marie Osmond is a busy woman, and with eight kids – nine, if you count her dog – it’s no wonder.

Osmond, 52, adopted a puppy named George at a charitable fashion show in April, and writes glowingly about the dog in a diary for Prevention Magazine’s September issue, on newsstands July 31.

“Our new puppy, George, has become an unexpected blessing,” she says. “We were told he’s a mix of German shepherd and English bulldog, but he’s more a mix of dancing elephant and a cupcake-fueled 4-year-old.”

Osmond and her children have been taking turns teaching George to walk on a leash, and after dropping the kids off at school, Osmond enjoys some one-on-one time with her four-legged baby.

“His pure puppy joy, as he bounds to the very end of his extendable leash, gives me a new appreciation of how good it feels to get outside in the morning air and get my muscles moving,” Osmond says. “A puppy is the perfect antidote to worries and problems. It’s almost impossible to focus on anything except those pudding eyes looking up at you with unconditional love, eager to explore life.”
