Make Way for Penguins! Rescued Birds Return to Ocean
Sixty blue penguins affected by a recent oil spill in New Zealand get released into the wild
It’s a penguin parade!
These 60 birds were once coated in slick oil after being caught up in a spill in New Zealand on Oct. 5, but have since been cleaned (and some even received hand-knit sweaters) and are now back in the ocean waters.
The blue penguins were released by Maritime New Zealand onto Mt. Maunganui Beach, and ran across the sand and into the water as a large crowd watched and cheered.
