Liev Schreiber and His Hurricane Harvey Rescue Pups Join PETA for a New Adoption Campaign
Liev Schreiber adopted Woody and Willow, the dogs featured in the new PETA ad with him, from a taping of Live with Kelly and Ryan following Hurricane Harvey
Back in September, Ray Donavan star Liev Schrieber made headlines when he met two Hurricane Harvey rescue puppies during a taping of Live with Kelly and Ryan and ended up adopting the adorable duo right there on the spot. The pups had been brought to the show from a Texas animal shelter that was overwhelmed with homeless pets following the devastation of the massive storm.
Fortunately, Schrieber’s canine kids have inspired him towards ongoing advocacy. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals just launched a new ad campaign featuring the actor and the brother-and-sister puppy duo, Woody and Willow, and PEOPLE has the exclusive first look. The snuggly photo series of the sweet trio includes the message, “Adopt! Once You Do, You Won’t Be Able to Picture Your Life Without Them!”
“Animal shelters across the country are flooded with dogs just like Woody and Willow,” says Schreiber. “It’s hard knowing that so many are still waiting for their forever home. The good folks at PETA and I encourage you to find your own perfect match and save a life (or two!) by adopting.”
According to PETA, more than 6 million dogs and cats end up in U.S. animal shelters every year, and half of them are euthanized because there just aren’t enough good homes. Many others end up on the street, often enduring other cruel fates and even death. Hence PETA’s focus on encouraging people to adopt from local animal shelters and to never buy from breeders or pet stores, which only serve to exacerbate the homeless animal population crisis.
