Labrador retrievers are the most popular breed of dog in the U.S., the AKC says.

Labrador retrievers, the goofy, good-natured breed featured in the hit movie Marley & Me, are the most popular breed of dog in America for the 18th year in a row, according to the American Kennel Club which released rankings today. No new breeds made the list this year, but the bulldog, which debuted last year, moved up to number eight from the 10th position.

Breeds have gone in and out of favor since the club started keeping track. The beagle is the only breed that’s been in the top 10 every year since 1915. Of course the list doesn’t include all dogs–just those who meet AKC standards and have a proven lineage. That said, how can you doubt that the lovable lab is America’s favorite dog?

1. Labrador Retriever
2. Yorkshire Terrier
3. German Shepherd Dog
4. Golden Retriever
5. Beagle
6. Boxer
7. Dachshund
8. Bulldog
9. Poodle
10. Shih Tzu
