Isaac Mizrahi's Poodles of Fashion
Catwalk? Not for Isaac Mizrahi’s Fall 2011 collection, which showed yesterday at New York Fashion Week.
PEWTER POM POM
The models’ bouffants were styled to look like the famous standard poodle cut.
In addition to standard poodles, there were miniature ones, too. This one came in a violet hue.
TURN THE CORNER
Just a few steps into the spotlight and this pooch is already going diva.
BLUE ARE YOU?
New York Times fashion writer Eric Wilson wondered if all the dogs were really poodles. “There were several varieties” of poodle, Wilson wrote. “French, standard, miniature, pink, blue and one that might have been a bichon frisé. Mr. Mizrahi said they were borrowed from friends or were rescue animals.”
YELLOW, NOT MELLOW
They might have been wearing similar shades of sunshine, but this pretty pooch wasn’t about to blend in.
TAKE A BOW
At the end of the show, the proud designer greets his audience (who looked pretty happy about the poodle next to him, judging by the angle of the camera phones).
AFTER THE CURTAIN
Mizrahi visited with one of his furry models and gave the dog his thanks. Until next season!
