A couple from the Isle of Wight in the U.K. won big in the lottery — thanks to the help of their Labrador retriever, Ruby.

Jane and Alan Slater had just won 149,089 pounds (roughly $230,000) when Ruby made a discovery that would double their winnings: The dog found a second winning ticket, for the same amount, tucked away in a catalogue in the back of their car. Thanks to Ruby’s detective work, the couple won an extra $230,000, reports Mashable.

“I really can’t explain the way this piece of paper floated,” said Jane Slater, of the moment the two-year-old dog dropped the ticket by her feet. “It was like slow-motion in films, as though someone wanted me to notice it.”

“We both burst into tears when we saw the second ticket was also a winner,” her husband added. “It all happened in such a magical way.”

We just feel bad for Kai, the couple’s other dog (a border collie), who doesn’t get to revel in the joy of providing for her family. (The Slaters promise to give extra treats to both Ruby and Kai to celebrate, so as to minimize sibling rivalry.)
