Aziz Ansari’s whole … “thing” is a mix of puppy-esque enthusiasm and semi-abrasiveness, so really, this video of him playing a small dog with a quasi-New York accent makes total sense.

This is the next installment of “Heavy Petting“ a series that’s a partnership between Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls and the ASPCA. “It’s like Tinder, but for adoptable pets,” Poehler’s site explains.

“We are happy to team up with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls to shine a charming light on the unique personalities of wonderful adoptable dogs in our care. With over 7 million dogs and cats entering U.S. shelters each year, there’s a perfect dog or cat out there for everyone. We hope this series inspires people to visit their local shelters and learn more about deserving pets in need of safe and loving homes,” Gail Buchwald, senior vice president of the ASPCA Adoption Center.

Anyway, if you’ve ever wanted to see Ansari slip in and out of a “Noo Yawk” accent while voicing Buddy, a maltese mix, here’s your chance. Does it make you want to adopt the dog, or just re-watch Master of None? Either way, it’s a win-win!
