If Lindsey Vonn knee-ded a sign that a 9-month-old shelter dog was meant to be hers, she definitely got one.

The star skier, who was “devastated” to announce this week that she was pulling out of the upcoming Sochi Olympics due to a knee injury, was drawn to her new dog, Leo, because he suffers from an injury himself.

“This definitely brightened my day – I adopted this 9 month old cutie from an animal shelter. He has a bad knee from being hit by a car when he was a puppy and no one wanted him but I do!!” she wrote on Facebook Wednesday, sharing a sweet shot of herself with the brown and black pup.RELATED: See Lindsey Vonn’s Sexy Workout Shots

It looks like the athlete, 29, who is due to have surgery soon so she can compete in the World Championships in Vail, Colo., next February, has found a kindred spirit (and Olympic viewing partner!) in lovely Leo.

“I encourage anyone looking for an animal to adopt from a shelter and save a life! #bumkneebuddies,” she wrote.
