The actor and his wife gave his parents, Nick and Nina, an adorable rescue pooch as a Christmas surprise

It’s George Clooney to the rescue once again!

A few months after adopting a rescue dog with his wife Amal, the actor has saved another needy pup and given him a forever home with his parents Nick and Nina.

The 3-year-old terrier’s name is Nate and he was underweight, walking with a leg that swayed, and suffering from birth defects when LuvFurMutts Animal Rescue of Cincinnati, Ohio, took the pup in from a hoarding situation.

“When we took Nate to adoption events, people would stare and kids would point,” reads a post on the LuvFurMutts Facebook page, which revealed on Jan. 21 the story of Clooney’s adoption. “Little did we know someone had been ogling over him for a while, watching his videos and reading his profile and Nate was about to get a very special Christmas surprise!”

That person was Clooney, who had been sharing YouTube videos of the pup with his parents, who’d recently lost their dog of ten years.

“All details were handled by George’s very efficient personal assistant, Angel,” reads the Facebook post. “Angel said George picked Nate out, then showed him to his Mom, Nina, on YouTube. She watched his video over and over and she fell in love.”

Clooney’s dad, Nick, saw a little bit of himself in Nate, too. “He then asked his Father Nick how he felt about the way Nate walks and he replied ‘I guess it sounds like he gets around just as good as we do anymore,’ “ the post said.

The adoption was a Christmas surprise for Clooney’s parents, which is why the rescue waited until the New Year to tell the story.

“Secretly, George (and wife Amal) Clooney had Angel call LuvFurMutts and arrange to have Nate adopted for his parents and to have Nate delivered on Christmas Eve to Nick and Nina,” the post says. “Nina cried a little when she opened the door and Nate was put into her arms. She was very surprised. She cried a little again when she read the card from George, Amal and Angel saying they wanted her to have Nate to enjoy Christmas with.”

It’s no secret now that Nate hit the jackpot on Christmas Eve.

“What is impressive is the fact that George picked Nate out and Nick and Nina accepted Nate just the way he is,” reads the message. “They could have any dog in the world but they chose to adopt a dog who was crippled and could have been with LuvFurMutts for life.”

The rescue — who is hoping Nick and Nina will one day send a photo of themselves with Nate — says that George and Amal paid for the adoption and made a donation that “more than covered” Nate’s previous surgery expenses.

“Our Nate is loved and in his forever home,” the sweet post reads, “and will be spoiled to death for the rest of his life.”
