Some things take a little persistence — in the case of Rubio the dog, a lot was required.

The pooch was recently adopted by a flight attendant after spending months camped outside a hotel she frequented in Argentina.

According to the Telegraph, who reported the story, Olivia Sievers, a flight attendant for Lufthansa, often travels to Argentina from Germany.

Her friendship with the stray pooch began earlier this year when she stopped to feed, pet, and play with the dog while spending time in Buenos Aires.

“I tried to change my way because I didn’t want him to follow me back to the hotel,” she told Noticiero Trece. “But it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention.”

That little bit of attention compelled the dog to pine for Sievers outside of her hotel — for six months.

When her job took her back to Germany, Sievers thought that would be in the end of it. But the Telegraph reports that when she returned to Buenos Aires — the first time and many times after that — Rubio, as she called him, was there waiting for her.

An attempt to find him a family via a rescue group was a valiant effort, but a great failure as the pooch ended up right back at the hotel where Sievers stayed. Finally, Sievers realized the inevitable, Rubio was hers.

He traveled to Germany on Friday to live with Sievers and her other dogs — proof that persistence can definitely pay off.
