The Great Pyrenees who moved animal lovers across the country for standing beside his fallen friend is returning home.

On Sunday, the dog was found on the side of a Dallas, Texas, road watching over his deceased canine friend. The kind pooch was taken in by Dallas Animal Services, who found no microchip on the dog but believed, based on his demeanor, that he had an owner.

According to NCBDFW, the shelter was right. A family has come forward saying the dog, who is named Brian, belongs to them. Sadly, the family says the deceased dog found with Brian is their 1-year-old shepherd mix Marley. Both of the dogs disappeared from their home on Sunday when the garage door was accidentally left open.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of support both from the shelter and the community, and they are looking forward to bringing Brian back home. The Great Pyrenees will be microchipped and neutered before returning to his family.
