Fairy-tale characters come to life in these adorable, animal-friendly costumes

My, what a cute costume you have! The Big Bad Wolf may be one of the scariest fairy tale villains, but Cheryl Keninger’s take on Little Red Riding Hood’s nemesis can transform your pooch into the most charming scoundrel on the block. Don him in one of her custom costumes (which include the red-caped one herself), and your pet can huff and puff his way through the neighborhood this Halloween.

Keniger began designing costumes after she struggled to find guises that fit her Dotson. “They were never long enough,” she tells PEOPLEPets.com. Frustrated, she embarked on her own sewing odyssey.

She drew up several patterns and eventually secured patents on her designs, which are surprisingly elaborate and well made for pet attire. And they suit your pup’s personality, whether she’s feeling good or evil. Ethel, our resident office dog, happily posed as both Little Red Riding Hood ($55) and the Big Bad Wolf ($55 for XXXS-M; $65 for L-XL) – and the pictures speak for themselves. The wolf costume – which is made of faux fur and lined with cotton fabric – comes in a variety of sizes and has a removable hood that is attached by velcro.

Keniger offers a host of other costumes on her site. Perhaps your pup prefers to sniff out crime? Then snatch up a Sherlock Holmes outfit. Or does your dog dream of taking to the skies? Keniger’s snazzy flight jacket might suit her. If you have a costume in mind that’s not already in her collection, Keninger happily takes special requests. In fact, the wolf getup, one of her best sellers, originated from a customer inquiry.
