She was getting ready to go with her dog to the bank when Lena Pavia thought, “I cannot just go like this. I have to make something unusual.”

Pavia, a freelance fashion designer, had been dressing up her puppy in cute clothes, painting her nails, even putting ornate jewelry around her neck ever since her husband presented her with the dog.

“It just came to my head that she must have a cute hat,” Pavia tells PEOPLEPets.com, and that’s how her hat designs were born.

Now, Pavia has turned into a full-blown pet milliner, with an Etsy shop of velvety hats bedecked with baubles, feathers and ribbons, good for any pet that can’t leave the house just looking like that!

The hats come in lots of different sizes, and they fit on dogs, cats, even dolls! They’re an affordable accessory, too. Priced between $9.95 and $11, they’re not quite a splurge, just lots of fun. Office dog Ethel certainly approves – going on a stroll through New York City got a lot fancier with her new hat!

Pavia’s summer line will feature Swarovski crystals, flowers and rhinestones, so check out her Etsy shop for lots of one-of-a-kind headgear!
