Days After Soccer Pro Disappears During Plane Crash, His Dog Is Still Waiting for Him to Return
The touching shot shows the dog looking out a window with the caption "Nala is waiting for you, too."
As soccer fans across the globe pray for Emiliano Sala, a forward with Premier League team Cardiff City F.C., the player’s dog is waiting for him to return home.
According to The Washington Post, a plane, piloted by David Ibbotson, carrying Sala, 28, was traveling from Nantes, France, to Cardiff, Wales, when it disappeared from radar over the English Channel on Jan. 21.
The wreckage of the plane was discovered with an unidentified body inside on Sunday in a private search funded by Sala’s friends, family and fellow players. Both Ibbotson and Sala are presumed dead, reports the paper.
This news hasn’t stopped Sala’s loyal dog Nala from waiting for her dog dad to return home. The soccer star’s sister, Romania Sala, posted a photo of her brother’s dog to Facebook on Saturday with the text “Nala is waiting for you, too.”
The shot shows the dog sitting in front of a large window, with her back to the camera, staring out at the sunset as though she expects someone’s arrival.
According to the Evening Standard, Sala put Nala in a kennel in Nantes before boarding the plane which now lies on the seabed near the Channel Island of Guernsey.
After being sold by French soccer club FC Nantes to the Premier League’s Cardiff City F.C., the Argentine athlete was preparing to move to Wales to start this new stage of his career.
