Sloths: They may have two to threes toes, but sometimes they need a hand.

One of these slow-moving sweeties got just that last week, when he found himself stuck on the side of the road.

Transit police in Ecuador noticed the confused commuter clinging to a guardrail after fighting to cross a busy highway, reports Jalopnik‎. While the sloth sat and processed the life-or-death feat he just achieved, the cops approached the animal.

Noticing that the cutie look exhausted and stressed, the police decided to transport him to a local animal hospital, where he was treated before being released into the wild. Ecuador’s transit commission posted photos of the encounter on Facebook, where the ambitious animal quickly devloped a following.

“We are grateful to all those people who were interested in the health of the animal. We will continue to support this kind of cases along with the collaboration of citizenship. Greetings to all,” the office posted in response to the numerous comments received about the sloth’s well-being.

After his crazy road trip and run-in with the law, hopefully this little guy is sticking to the trees and canopies that he is used to.
