When she spotted a young porpoise struggling along the shore on Criccieth Beach in Wales, Leia the dog knew something was wrong, so she started barking to get her owner’s attention.

When the dog’s owner realized what the pup had found, he took it upon himself to finish the rescue and help the animal get back into the water.

“Managed to gently lift and guide this beached baby dolphin / juvenile harbor porpoise back out to sea,” reads the caption for this video. “Stayed at the site for while after to make sure he didn’t come back.”

Leia’s starring role is in the beginning of the video – you can see her spot the small dolphin sprawled motionless on the rocky beach.

“Good girl, Leia,” the owner says to the happy dog, who runs off to go explore the rest of the beach.

And the man is giving credit where credit’s due: “If it wasn’t for my dog barking at me I would have missed [the dolphin] too!” he writes.
