Dog Has Tough Time Recognizing Owner After He Loses 50 Lbs. in Hospital

Two best friends are back together and they have a lot to catch up on — including how one of them looks a lot different!

This man and his pooch were separated while he was in the hospital for 5 weeks due to complications from the flu, according to TheDodo, who reported the story. Dog owner Shane Godfrey returned home looking visibly thinner, which was obviously very confusing for his dog, Willie, as you can see in the video.

“I had lost 50 pounds in the hospital and am sure I looked different,” Shane Godfrey said. “At first he was unsure and barked at me but once he got close enough to smell me he recognized me immediately and totally went wild with excitement. It still makes me tear up when I see the video.”

Godfrey told the Dodo that Willie has changed in his own way, too.

“He won’t leave my side now that I’ve gotten back home,” he said.
