Geronimo is diving into home life after a long, long wait.

The shelter pup spent 1,145 days at the Humane Society of Summit County patiently waiting to be adopted, according to the Twinsburg, Ohio, shelter.

After three years of enchanting rescue workers, the 6-year-old dog has fallen in love with a forever family. Geronimo went home with his new pet parents on Saturday.

The American Staffordshire terrier/pit bull/Mastiff mix was helped by a bit of good press. In December, wrote an article about the Geronimo’s predicament. The site also shared a video of the pooch playing outside and showing off his basic commands.
