It just doesn’t get any cuter than this.

An easy-on-the-eyes police officer from Santa Cruz, California, protected, served and adopted an equally adorable kitten he rescued from the engine of a car recently.

“You have the right to remain cute!!!!” shouts a Facebook post shared by the Santa Cruz Police on Monday, which explains how these two adorable creatures came to meet.

“SCPD Police Officer Gomez heard a desperate meowing coming from a car in the PD parking lot,” it reads, “After some ‘detective work,’ he realized the meows were coming from somewhere inside a car engine. When the hood was popped open he found a frightened kitty cat hiding next to the engine block.”

Gomez “shimmied underneath the car” to carefully get the tiny cat out — and that’s when the magic happened.

“The kitten was covered in dirt and grease but he was unharmed!” the post said. “It was love at first sight. Officer Gomez adopted the stray kitty right then and there.”
