Owen has two bulldogs, Vern and Merle. While Vern has retired from the road, Merle plays co-captain when Owen is on tour. “He stays up front; he likes it there,” Owen tells PEOPLE.

The country singer’s bulldog Athens is a distant relative of the University of Georgia’s furry team mascot. “I wanted the same bloodline as the actual mascot,” Aldean told PEOPLE. “So I went on an extensive search on Google and happened to find a breeder who had one of the sons of Uga V.”
While visiting Brisbane, Australia, with wife and their children, got within hugging distance of a friendly koala.
THE BAND PERRY
