Last Christmas, , seen here with her own rescue dogs Ace and Penny, saved two pups she found on the interstate near her childhood home in Oklahoma. Sadly, one dog died, but she took the other pup, Stella, to an emergency vet and fostered her until she was adopted.

The dog Happy was found somewhere very sad. “He was left in a box in front of Walmart,” she Tweeted. “I don’t understand how people can be so cruel. That’s why we named him Happy.”

Cyrus’s dog Happy will always have a connection to Willis: She adopted his sister, Dita, who was also abandoned outside Walmart. “So happy she and her bro Happy can play together,” Willis Tweeted.

A friend had the actress on speed dial when a litter of 10 pups came into a local shelter – and and her fiancé Justin Theroux ran right over! “We were [at the shelter] for three hours. I was almost walking out with three puppies,” she told Jay Leno.

The Vampire Diaries star took to Twitter to find homes for two male kittens she came across in Sofia, Bulgaria. “One is energetic, the other is a cuddler and they both need love – email me at ninascats2adopt@yahoo.com if you want a kitten!” she wrote.

When the Glee star showed up at the a shelter in Chatsworth, Calif., he did the unexpected: He adopted an overweight senior cat named Brian. “It was heartbreaking to see so many sweet animals needing homes,” he wrote on Twitter. “Please think about rescuing!”

The Twilight actress and her husband, singer Paul McDonald, opened their home and hearts to a full-grown German shepherd, who became a companion for their other pup Enzo. “The newest addition to our family! Enzo has waited such a long time for this!” Reed wrote on WhoSay.

After 10 years together, the former Survivor winners, who powered through Zohn’s long treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, adopted a 5-year-old pit bull/mastiff mix from a dog rescue in Brooklyn, N.Y., and named him Bobbi-Ricki.

The Glee star fell hard for the Wheaten terrier that started out as a foster dog earlier this year. It was his other pup Sophie that sealed the deal. When the two dogs began playing, “I saw her light up,” he told PEOPLE.

Another foster dog who turned into forever! Originally named Romeo, the Dancing with the Stars pro renamed the pup EyBoi and taught him lots of new tricks. “This dog is incredible,” he said. “Everything I’ve taught him he’s applied within two days Genius animal!”

The actress felt an instant connection with 9-week-old Chihuahua-pug mix Kennedy, who was abandoned at a park in East L.A. “She claimed my heart the second I met her,” Duff Tweeted.

The Hunger Games star adopted a 3-month-old pit bull puppy with a painful past: The dog sat in a shelter for 11 days with a broken leg. “Thanks to Josh, [Driver] now has a full stomach, warm bed and a loving owner,” read a post on Hutcherson’s official Facebook fan page.

The actress’s blue pit bull Griffin, adopted earlier this year, was one of a litter of 8 puppies born to a stray that was set to be euthanized. Thankfully, a rescue saved them and Bush found a new BFF. “He’s the sweetest, most mellow little guy,” she told PEOPLE. “He just wants to snuggle and kiss everybody.”
