Instead of falling on her feet, a New Jersey kitty fell between two buildings.

According to NJ.com, on Monday night Luna the cat snuck through the kitchen window of her Rutherford apartment, wandered on to a flat roof and then fell 15 feet down a 3.5 inch gap between a nail salon and a liquor store, getting stuck in the space on the way down.

Luna’s owner, who lives above the salon, called the police at 10 p.m. for help getting the cat. Authorities arrived at the scene and tried for two hours to remove the feline with a snare, but were unable to pull Luna out safely.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, the police called the fire department for help removing the cat. Firefighters eventually broke through an 18-inch brick wall to get into the tight space.

“We were then able to grab Luna, cut the snare from her neck and return her to her family at around 2 a.m.,” Police Chief John Russo said.

Luna was taken to the vet after her smashing rescue. Doctors found a few scrapes on the cat, but overall she was unharmed by the ordeal.
