Carrie Underwood is a bona fide superstar. And her dog, Ace? He’s a celebrity too, according to his country-singer mama.

“Ace is famous,” Underwood tells in the clip above. “[He’s] a blessing. He’s a part of me.”

The 4-year-old rat terrier is such a part of Underwood’s life that he even made an appearance in her July wedding, donning a pink tux – and barking when the singer kissed her groom, hockey player Mike Fischer.

Underwood told PEOPLE at the time that her pooch has never liked kisses. “I don’t know if he thinks people are hurting each other or what,” she said. “He doesn’t like clapping, either.”

One thing he does like? Making his mom happy. “Your family, your job, whatever it is … at some point you’re going to be frustrated, you’re going to be mad, you’re going to be … losing it,” she says. “Ace just makes me happy every single second of every single day.”
