Breaking Dawn Stars & Their Four-Legged Fans
The Bella Swan ‘s new $2.1 million house is the perfect space to share with a very special someone: rescue pooch Bernie. Her “very emotionally manipulative” roommate first won her over at a Louisiana animal shelter – but almost stepped on some paws with Bear, her other rescue dog she shares with boyfriend .
Unlike his owner’s on-screen alter ego, Bear craves dry-cured meat over blood. “We were staying at the Four Seasons,” the Edward Cullen actor recalled in November on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “He didn’t have any dog food, so I got him a little plate of prosciutto.” Since getting adopted in February 2011, Bear has enjoyed his sampling of the finer things in life. “He came out of the shelter, and the next day he’s on a private plane,” Pattinson said after bringing him home. “A bit like Lady and the Tramp.”
Talk about canine instincts! The Jacob Black cozies up to one of his own at the Los Angeles premiere of Twilight’s final installment. Think his red carpet date, who seems to belong to a fan, will inspire the on-screen werewolf to take home a pooch one of these days? “I’m obsessed,” he’s already said of his costars’ pooch Bear, and he even posed with another furry fan, a military dog, at the same premiere.
Who needs a boyfriend when you have an adorable pooch to come home to? “She’s just the most fantastic little puppy I could ask for,” the Alice Cullen told PEOPLE in June 2010 of her beloved toy fox terrier Marlo. “I like to think she’s my constant amidst constant change. She’s the one thing that’s there.”
When it comes to keeping his hard-earned bod in tip-top shape – to fight the Volturi, obviously – the Emmett Cullen gets a push from his ever-active four-legged trainers: shepherd-husky mix Kevin (pictured) and Chihuahua Kola. “Walking both of my dogs is the biggest workout ever,” he told PEOPLE in August 2011. “I have these two leashes which I’m constantly twirling, and they zigzag! They are just all over the place.”
Sure, baby boy Monroe is adorable, but he finds some ruff competition in Gus. The Jasper Hale actor, who welcomed his son in July, spent plenty of time with the pooch back when he toured with his indie-rock band 100 Monkeys. But this furball was no groupie: “Gus is running the show in all seriousness,” he deadpanned in a 2011 YouTube video. “When we mess up, he beats us, and it really hurts. He’s got really sharp teeth and he uses his tail like a whip.”
