JAMIE CHUNG & EWOK
Jamie Chung and her husband, fellow actor Bryan Greenberg, didn't have to compromise when it came to naming the pup they got from Saving SPOT! Dog Rescue in Los Angeles. "We love Star Wars, and when we first met him, at 8 weeks old, he was just a little fluff ball, with the markings of an Ewok, so the name stuck," says Chung, 34, of her miniature schnauzer-shih tzu. The 2-year-old dog has pushed the couple to get outdoors more. "We're always at a park or checking out the local hikes," says the Gotham star. "It certainly has gotten us healthier!"
JENNA DEWAN TATUM, MEEKA (TOP) & LULU
Jenna Dewan Tatum already had miniature Japanese spitz Meeka, 9, when her husband, Channing Tatum, brought pit-bull-Catahoula mix Lulu, 7, home from a pound in Alabama, where he had been visiting family. "Lulu is like a fur Chan," jokes Dewan Tatum. "She's wild; she loves adventure. And Meeka taught me how to care for something before I had my daughter [Everly, 3]." Both dogs also do dancing tricks — they are Tatums, after all! "Meeka can do a pirouette," says the World of Dance host, 36. "And Lulu jumps up, and we do the Baby dance scene from Dirty Dancing!"
BETH BEHRS & BELLE
After taking equine-guided therapy classes to help alleviate panic attacks in 2015, the Two Broke Girls actress decided to adopt a horse of her own. Last year she found Belle, 6, through the Blue Apple Ranch horse sanctuary in Ramona, California. "I always say, 'Who rescued who?' " says Behrs, 31, who spends weekends riding Belle in Topanga, California, and describes the experience as "grounding." After witnessing firsthand how horses can be healing, Behrs cofounded SheHerdPower, an equine-therapy program to help sexual-assault survivors, a cause she became interested in after one of her close friends became the victim of sexual assault. "Belle has been the greatest teacher," she says.
KEKE PALMER, ROCKY (TOP) & RYDELL
Opening her heart to two puppies has been a healing experience for the star, 23, who will soon release her new single "Wind Up." "I was going through a breakup when I got them, and they would come right up and cuddle me," says Palmer. Ten-month-old teacup maltipoo Rocky's frenetic energy sometimes drives her crazy, but 11-month-old teacup Yorkie Rydell, whose name was inspired by Palmer's role in Grease Live, "never asks for too much," says the actress. "He's a Mama's boy."
SHAY MITCHELL & ANGEL
Shay Mitchell's rescue German shepherd-Lab mix already had the name Angel when she adopted her three years ago. "It just suited her perfectly," says the Pretty Little Liars star, 30. "She was superchill." The actress admits she "probably looked at 4,000 dogs" before finding her ideal pet at L.A.'s South Central Animal Shelter. "I saw her, and she was looking up, and I was like, 'She's coming home with me!'" Now 6, Angel "makes my life better by just being," says Mitchell, who returns the favor: "I spoil her. Her bed is more expensive than my bed! She lives a great life."
