Awkward Family Pet Photos!
On AwkwardFamilyPetPhotos.com, we’re not laughing at the subjects – we’re laughing with them. “Part of the reason users submit [photos] is that our site is a celebration,” says Bender. “We’re not making fun of people –the idea is that they are all in on [the joke].”
It’s all fun and games until the kitties’ claws come out.
IT'S WABBIT SEASON!
“That photo just cracks me up!” Bender says. “The guy took the cat to take a picture with the Easter Bunny. That cat must be freaking out.”
“People love their pets so much, sometimes we do crazy things – and awkwardness ensues,” says Mike Bender, dog owner and co-founder of AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com. For example, this totem pole featuring one family’s furriest member. In June, Bender and his partner, Doug Chernack, started AwkwardFamilyPetPhotos.com, a pets spin-off, after realizing that a high percentage of people submitted pics with their animals in them.
ARMED & ENDANGERED
This shady couple really loves their gun, and they really love their bird.
BEST IN SHOW
“Something we’re following is the Crazy Cat Guy – we’ve been getting a lot of [them],” Bender says. “This person is really proud of his cat.” And, hey, we’re okay with that!
CENTER OF ATTENTION
“It’s one thing to pose with your family, but when you throw the pet in there, that adds another element of awkwardness,” Bender says.
We would like to give this photo an honorary place in our famous lookalikes gallery.
“We’ll post a photo, and people will see it and say, ‘Oh my god, I took a photo just like that!’,” Bender says. Could there be an AwkwardFamilyGunPhotos.com coming soon?
THERE IS A GOAT
If we had a goat, they would be considered a member of our family, too.
