Minka Kelly’s dog isn’t the only celebrity pet who has encountered trouble on an airplane recently. Angela Simmons – the daughter of Run-DMC’s Rev. Run and star of MTV reality shows Run’s House and Daddy’s Girls – and her pup faced a similar predicament on a recent flight from Burbank, Calif. to New York City.
Simmons was traveling with Foofi, her 4-year-old toy poodle. The trip had two legs, with a layover in a city Simmons can’t remember. (“It was in the middle of nowhere,” she says.)
“I was in first class, and I had my dog under the seat,” she told PEOPLEPets.com at the G-Star Raw Fashion Week show on Tuesday in New York. “Halfway through the trip, they decided I couldn’t have my dog on the plane. It hurt my feelings. I was crying.”
Foofi travels with Simmons “all the time,” and had been in a carrier on the first leg of the trip. When Simmons got on the second flight, she was told she didn’t have an airline-approved bag.
“I was willing to sit in coach for takeoff, but I was told to get off,” Simmons wrote in an email to PEOPLEPets.com. “I was in my socks and had my eye mask on. I was so upset, and was told they would call the cops if I didn’t get off.”
She ended up getting off that plane, rebooking on another flight six hours later –and getting a new carrier for Foofi. Despite the embarrassing experience, Simmons plans to continue traveling with her pup. “I love my dog, and will [fly again with Foofi] for sure,” she says.
