Adoptapalooza Pet of the Day! Meet Nina, the Head-Turning Cat

This 16-week-old kitten has spent her life in a vet's office

For every pet living with a happy family, there is an animal in a shelter waiting to find a loving home. Today we’d like you to meet Nina, a gorgeous, confident kitten who will be in New York City’s Washington Square Park on Sunday, looking for a new forever home.

Nina, now 16 weeks old, has spent most of her young life in a vet’s office, and she’s currently staying with the Picasso Veterinary Fund. Her mother, a feral orange tabby, was picked up by someone when she was pregnant and abandoned on a Brooklyn rooftop.

“She was stuck up there for days until someone heard her crying,” says Picasso Fund coordinator Siobhan Healy. “She was trapped and brought to the vet, where she had four premature kittens.”

The kittens were having a hard time and had to be bottle-fed, but once Nina got to be 4 weeks old, she bounced back. The little head-turner with beautiful eyes loves playing with toys and is well-socialized thanks to all the handling she’s had.

“She’s not skittish at all,” Healy says. “She’ll put her arm out to say hello.”

The Picasso Veterinary Fund, along with Nina and other animals, will be at Adoptapalooza in New York City’s Washington Square Park on Sunday, Sept. 12. Stop by this free event to meet all the wonderful adoptable pets – and to meet a few of us from!
