Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Today, in honor of Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog month, meet Candie, a stunning Borzoi mix who is as sweet as her name, according to North Shore Animal League America, who is currently caring for her.

Sadly, Candie is up for adoption because her family had to move into a new home that didn’t allow pets. This regal girl is a gentle giant who loves attention from other animals and loves to give kisses to humans. Despite her foreign shelter surroundings, Candie is very social and comfortable meeting new people, the Animal League says.

“Candie is such a delight to be around. She loves attention but will also lay quietly when you’re busy or working,” said shelter director Christina Travalja. “She loves to greet new people and was definitely socialized well in the past. I can picture her being the perfect dog to watch a long movie with by your side.”

Candie would thrive in a quiet home with an adopter who is looking for a friend that’s always nearby. If you think she’s the girl for you, contact the shelter at 516-883-7575 with the adoption number: T63559.
