Adopt Me! Senior Cat Tasha Wants a Home for Christmas
The 10-year-old calico loves being cradled like a baby
Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Meet Tasha, a sweet senior cat who just wants to curl up on someone’s lap this Christmas.
Earlier this year, Tasha’s time was up at a kill shelter in Salt Lake City, Utah. The staff at the Animal Adoption Center, also in Salt Lake City, knew the 10-year-old cat was adoptable, so they saved her and were charged with finding her a forever home.
“It’s obvious she was somebody’s cat once,” says Nikki Sevy, a volunteer photographer for the shelter. “I don’t understand how someone threw her away. She is the sweetest lap cat. You can [cradle her] like a baby. She’ll sit and purr and let you rub her big belly.”
Like most older humans, Tasha likes to take it easy in her golden years. “She seems to prefer quiet, which all of us do as we get older,” says Sevy. She also loves to be groomed with a brush and will wiggle around to ensure you get the “good spots” too.
While she’s a lovebug with people, she’s slightly more cautious around other animals. “As long as a cat or dog gives her space, she’s fine,” Sevy adds.
As part of the shelter’s Home for the Holidays campaign, Tasha’s adoption fee is waived until Dec. 31. Adopters will receive a free starter kit that includes litter and food as well.
If you think this pretty kitty is the friend you’ve been looking for, call the shelter at (801) 355-PETS or visit its Facebook page for more information.
