Adopt Me! Scarlett Is a One-Eyed Wonder
After years on her own, the 4-year-old is looking to cozy up to a comfy couch
Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Meet Scarlett, a Southern belle who could use a little more spoiling.
The copper and penny-red pooch had recently given birth to a litter of 10 puppies, but while the pups were healthy, Scarlett was far from it, suffering from a right eye injury that was severely infected.
“After Scarlett weaned her puppies, she was able to have her much-needed eye removal surgery,” explains Sheppard, noting that dealing with her appearance “takes a special person.”
During her time at the shelter, the Border Collie Pyrenees has been spoiled “rotten, and that’s what she expects, thus living up to her Southern belle name,” says Sheppard. Ideally, she needs a home in which she is the only dog, or shares space with a similarly sized male dog, and can retire to the couch whenever she pleases. Scarlett prefers to be indoors, with a few walks each day.
