Adopt Me! Saved from a Puppy Mill, Sassy Is in Need of Love
The 56-lb. pup thinks she's a lap dog – and that's okay
Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Meet Sassy, a 5-year-old female Blue Heeler, who has a lot of love to give.
Sassy was plucked from a puppy mill by National Mill Dog Rescue of Peyton, Colo. The 56-lb. pup – who thinks she’s a lap dog, despite her size! – is “incredibly friendly and loving,” the organization’s animal care manager, Kim Lehmann, tells PEOPLE. “She’s a favorite at National Mill Dog Rescue; every day she offers the most enthusiastic greeting to all of the staff and volunteers,” she says. “Everybody adores Sassy and cannot resist stopping whatever they are doing to snuggle with her for a bit.”
Though happiest when being cuddled, Sassy is also quite active, so a home with a fenced-in backyard is ideal for her, Lehmann says. “She’s ready for a family of her own,” she adds, “and has so much love to give.”
