Adopt Me! Once Abused, Pit-Bull Mix Brian Still Has Love in His Heart

Though his prior owner stabbed him, he still trusts friendly humans

For every pet living with a happy family, there is an animal in a shelter waiting to find a loving home. So today, we’d like you to meet Brian, a 2-year-old pit bull mix who’s seen the worst, and is now hoping for the best.

Brian came to the New Haven Animal Shelter in Connecticut after suffering abuse at the hands of his first family and later, his foster family. “He was stabbed several times by the person who should have given him love,” shelter representative Jeannie Ranalli tells PEOPLEPets.com. Volunteers worked tirelessly to gain control of his trust issues, and today, Ranalli happily reports that Brian has blossomed into “a loyal, lovable and devoted companion.”

A big fan of fetch, Brian is “passionate” about tennis balls and will even choose playing with those over eating his food! Ranalli says he will thrive in a home with a mature, childless single or couple who can give him that love he so deserves.

The New Haven Animal Shelter is the second-largest municipal animal shelter in Connecticut. With 65 spacious dog runs, it takes in about 1,400 dogs and cats each year – and places roughly 75 percent of its needy animals. The organization works with the Humane Commission, the North Shore Animal League and its own volunteer group, the Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter, to sponsor adoption drives and events throughout the year.
