Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Meet Nory, a sweet cat who wants to be someone’s companion.

When she arrived at the ASPCA in December, Nory had her paws full: she had recently birthed a litter of kittens, and was carefully tending to each one.

“We were amazed at what a great mom she was,” says Katie Watts, senior feline behavior counselor at the ASPCA’s adoption center in New York City. “Now that all of her kittens have found homes, we are hoping that Nory finds a family to love her just as much as she loved her babies.”

Perhaps it’s because Nory knows what it’s like to be a busy mother, but this 1-year-old kitty – who has a distinct handlebar mustache! – definitely likes her quiet time.

“She would be a perfect cat for someone who wants a low-maintenance pet, as she isn’t much of an attention seeker,” says Watts. “She is perfectly content amusing herself, or napping.”

Because she’s kind of an introvert, the ASPCA prefers that the person who adopts Nory has previous cat experience.

“As with most cats, sometimes Nory just wants some ‘me time’ and her adopter should know how to recognize that,” Watts says. “She’s not the biggest fan of other felines, and kids will probably overwhelm her so a home where she can be the only little one in the house would be best.”

If you think Nory is the next pet for you, contact the ASPCA adoption center at 212-876-7700, ext. 4900 or visit them online.
