For every pet with a happy home, there is an animal in a shelter waiting to be adopted. Throughout June, in honor of American Humane’s Adopt-A-Cat Month, we spotlighted several sweet kitties in need, and we’ve decided to keep the ball rolling. So today, meet Jello, a very affectionate 9-year-old tabby who’s a staff favorite at the Infinite Hope shelter in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Jello was brought to Infinite Hope last year after his owner couldn’t get him to eat. The veterinary team checked him out and, happily, cleared him for adoption. Though he’s friendly, curious and all-around good-natured, because of his age he’s often overlooked by families seeking a new pet. A big cat with an even bigger personality, Jello loves playing with people – and sitting in laps! – and gets along with everyone but dogs. To really win him over, let him drink out of a fountain-style bowl – he loves running water! Though he may be a “senior,” Jello still has a lot of love to give.

Founded in 2004, Infinite Hope has placed more than 400 cats, dogs and rabbits in happy homes around New York City. The volunteer-run no-kill shelter gives all its animals a thorough veterinary exam upon arrival, and is dedicated to helping families in need find happy homes for their pets. Infinite Hope is always looking for donations to help keep the hope alive, and products like pet food, animal beds, unused toys and blankets are continuously needed.
