Lifestyle Pets Adopt Me! Handsome Hank Wants to Be Your Contender The overweight senior dog is ready for his big comeback By People Staff Published on July 28, 2011 06:30 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Home. Some cats and dogs never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary homeless pet every week. Today, we’d like you to meet Handsome Hank, an overweight senior dog who must have turned heads like Marlon Brando in his heyday. Like the screen legend, the 10-year-old Kuvasz-Chow mix, who was admitted as a stray to the Nevada Humane Society of Reno, Nev., in January, has gotten a bit rounder in his golden years. The calm, friendly canine is ready for his big comeback. “He is in the process of losing some extra pounds,” says the shelter’s administrative lead, Kari Riley, adding that the people-lover could really use a training partner. He would thrive in a home with active owners who will make him the center of attention and their only pet. “Not much gets to him,” says Riley. “He’s a is a sweet, easy-going guy. With a winning smile and a sweet attitude, [he’s] a dog who has it all-except for a loving home.” If you’re in search of a loyal companion, Hank could be – and is – a contender! Established in 1932, the Nevada Humane Society is a non-profit animal shelter that aims to help all animals in the community and provide support, education and assistance to the people who care about them.
