The Chihuahua/terrier mix is completely deaf but that doesn’t slow him down one bit

Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Today, meet Eeyore, an 11-month-old Chihuahua/terrier mix living at the Humane Society Silicon Valley.

Eeyore is looking for a special home because he’s a dog with special needs. He’s completely deaf in both ears and trained on hand signals. Sit, stay, come – Eeyore knows it all and the shelter will give his new owner free in-home training sessions as a part of his adoption package.

“Eeyore has totally won the hearts of all the staff and the volunteers. He’s just such a happy, positive little dog. Even when he’s in his room by himself you’ll see him playing with his toys. And he works so hard on his hand signals – he’s super attentive,” says Finnegan Dowling, the rescue’s social media manager. “He doesn’t know there’s anything different about him and unless you knew he was deaf, you wouldn’t either.”

Eeyore came to the rescue as a stray, but clearly he was once someone’s good dog. He walks great on a leash, loves going for walks and will make a great sidekick for an avid hiker. He’s a happy, fun dog who loves meeting new people and other dogs.

If you think Eeyore is the buddy you’ve been looking for, contact the Humane Society Silicon Valley at 408-262-2133. (And watch the video below to see Eeyore in action!)
