For every pet living with a happy family, there is an animal in a shelter waiting to find a loving home. So today, we’d like you to meet Butters, a 7-year-old beagle mix who’s been alone for way too long.

Butters arrived at Louisville’s Kentucky Humane Society after she was plucked from the streets. “There were some tough days and nights when she was on her own, but she’s been well taken care of since she was brought to KHS,” shelter representative Erin Clephas tells “She’s a little shy, but likes children.” Butters also gets along with other dogs and cats, so she’d thrive in a home with lots of loving playmates. Spayed, microchipped and vaccinated, the sweet pooch is ready for a forever family.

Founded in 1884, the Kentucky Humane Society accepts all cats and dogs in need, regardless of health, background, breed or temperament. In addition to adoptions, staffers offer behavioral training, food banks, boarding, daycare, grooming, spay/neuter services and even humane education programs for kids.

The Kentucky Humane Society relies solely on private donations to continue its animal rescue operations. Visit the organization’s website to learn how you can help.
